The main purposes of Human Resource Management training programmes are to equip human resource managers with up to date knowledge and skills to enable them improve organizational performance; raise the level of their understanding on critical issues in organizational behaviour and human resource management; and develop intellectual skills and management competencies required for effective human resource management practices. The department conducts training in the field of Human Resource Management and Business Administration at NTA Level 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9, as well as Postgraduate Diploma Programmes.
The Department of Human Resource Management runs seventeen (17) different training programmes namely, Basic Technician Certificate in Human Resource Management (NTA Level 4), Technician Certificate in Human Resource Management (NTA Level 5), Ordinary Diploma in Human Resource Management (NTA Level 6), Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management (NTA Level 7) and Bachelor Degree in Human Resource Management (NTA Level 8). Moreover, the department also offers Basic Technician Certificate in Business Administration (NTA Level 4), Technician Certificate in Business Administration (NTA Level 5), Ordinary Diploma in Business Administration (NTA Level 6), Higher Diploma in Business Administration (NTA Level 7), Bachelor Degree in Business Administration (NTA Level 8)and Master Degree in Human Resource Management.
Judith Jackson Msangi is the Lecturer and researcher as well. She holds a PhD in Business Administration from University of Dar es Salaam Business School. She is a business management profession with more than 13 years in teaching, research and consultancy. Her research areas and interest includes HRM, business development, SMEs, emotional intelligence, leadership, change management, and product quality. She has published papers particularly on HRM, Employees engagement, product quality, strategic plan development skills, and small business growth. She also participated in the development of Strategic Plan and teaching Curriculum. Judith Msangi is heading the Department of Human Resource Management – Academic, at the Institute of Social Work. She is a member of Tender Board at the Institute of Social Work, member of Institute of Social Work Quality Assurance committee, Member of Research Committee of the Institute of Social Work. Finally, Judith is Self-motivated, positive attitude, initiative, flexible, committed and determined towards success.

Prof. Justin Kalisti Urassa is an Associate Professor and he holds a PhD (Development Studies) and an MSc Social Research Methods (Development Studies) from the University of Sussex (United Kingdom). He also attained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Poverty Analysis for Socio-economic Security and Development from the Institute of Social Studies - Holland, an MSc and BSc (Agriculture) from Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). Prof. Urassa also holds a Diploma in Dairy Husbandry from Livestock Training Institute (LITI) Tengeru, Tanzania.
Prof. Urassa in addition to his regular academic activities is currently the Chairperson of the Tanzania Quality Assurance Forum (TUQAF). Prof Urassa was Sokoine University of Agriculture Academic Staff Association’s (SUASA) Chairperson (April 2013 – January 2016). In addition, he has also acted as the Coordinator for SUA’s -Quality Assurance Bureau (August 2018 – to December, 2019) and as the Associate Director for the Development Studies Institute (SUA) from July 2004 to October 2005.
Before Joining ISW in February, 2022 Prof. Urassa worked in various capacities (Assistant Lecturer to Associate Professor) at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA (December, 1999 – February, 2022). In addition, before joining SUA Prof Urassa had worked as a Livestock Tutor at the Ministry of Agriculture Training Institute (MATI) Mlingano, Tanga (1989 – 1999).
